Why would a show and go be more desirable than a planned ride with a GPS map?

Clarification:
The RSVP request on the posted rides is not a sign-in. We need to know whether the ride should be held based on response, and if a responder does not arrive at the lot on time, we check to see if they are delayed and the leader(s) should wait. Feel free to show up without RSVPing, and feel free to create your own ride at Smith Street or any other location. We aim to enhance the show and go with some preview of our intended ride.

I’m not a mind reader but I think Karen meant why doesn’t a planned gps ride (not a show and go) start from Smith Street for a weekend ride. Instead of Breezy Park.

That, and just the spontaneity of a show and go, with whomever shows and deciding on the spur of the moment where to go. (I'm not a GPS fan as well as schlepping to Breezy Park)

To end all discussions since we all get these emails, would it be safe to say that different rides could be done from different locations based on what a ride leader chooses? Show an go ride can start from Smith Street and planned rides can also take place from Breezy or wherever else. Each rider can decide what he/she wants to do.

Thank you.

Sal- that’s an interesting route, going into the Garvies Point Development, just as they’re preparing for occupancies.  Dickson Rd had been impassable, but has been repaved.  Their’s still a Traffic barrier, which can be circumvented, by AF supply. Enjoy the climb!

Looks like a great ride guys. Wish I could make but I can't get out until about noon. Hope to make it next time.

I never know how to dress appropriately for a ride this time of year. Longs or shorts, that is the question…

My take.  It will be between 43 and 50 degrees
Tomorrow dress warm.  Long pants, 3 wicking layers on top.  Top layer is best if windproof.  Balaclava, warm gloves.
