Covered Bridge Classic Registration is Open

Jeffrey Erlitz

Back in the day, Lou used to lead a group of us for this tour, one of my faves. We always made a three-day weekend out of it with a “pre-ride” on Saturday afternoon and a “pancake ride” (yes, this is where I got my idea four our annual pancake ride!) on Monday morning before heading back to Long Island.

If any of you are interested, I would be happy to lead the “pre” and “post” tour rides this year. Accommodations are on your own. Hopefully, we may be able to have our usual group dinner on either Saturday or Sunday evening, whichever is most convenient.

New Routes-More Bridges

Dear Jeffrey

The 42nd annual Covered Bridge Classic will be held Sunday August 15, 2021.  We want past registrants to have the first shot at participating in this event which supports cycling in Lancaster County.

A lot of cyclists are anxious to get out for events that had to be cancelled last year.  We are anticipating another sold out year.  Register now to lock in your spot for this premier cycling event.

After taking a gap year,  we have reworked the event based on pandemic conditions and regulations.  To ensure proper social distancing and improve safety, we will have a rolling start from seven different parking locations around the route.  Each parking location will also serve as a rest stop and mechanical support.  We are unable to host a large lunch.  We will provide better stocked rest stops.  All foods will be prepackaged and varied throughout the ride.  Registration will be closed when we run out of parking capacity.

3 routes to choose from: 100 miles, 65 miles, and 34 miles.

Registration fee includes well stocked rest stops with food, water, electroyte powder for your water bottle if you choose, SAG support vehicles, well marked routes, printable paper cues, downloadable GPX files and more.

Hi Jeff -

Donna here (Vlad's better half).  I'm not sure how much riding I can do this year given my knee injury, but for the 34 miles, do you know how hilly the rides are?  I'd love to do the ride.  I would think that Vlad might want do the ride too.

There are hills out there but they tend to be rollers. I can send you a link to some of the previous routes in Ride w/GPS.

Sounds wonderful...I may finish in the same amount of time that you all do in longer rides, but I don't care.  I would have to work up to it though...this summer!

Yes, do send me the rollers...ridew/gps.
