Hello Dave:
Hope all us well with you. By now the beard must be reaching your feet. 😆.
Please see the email below and share it with the HBC members.
Thank you,
Roger
Hi Folks—
I have been working with Dan Flanzig and a Suffolk County Legislator to pass a county law that institutes a three foot rule— meaning that cars are supposed to pass at least three feet from bicyclists.
I was hoping to enlist you guys in this effort. There is a public hearing scheduled for December 1. What we need is to have bike riders contact their respective County Legislators
before then saying you support a three foot rule.
Below is a list of the 18 Suffolk County Legislators and the towns that they serve.
Please call and email your most local legislator and tell them that you want this.
The law is Introductory Resolution 1830-2020, "A Local Law to ensure the Safety of Bicyclists in Suffolk County,” It will be before the full Legislature for a public hearing on Tuesday, December 1st at 2pm.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Thanks and best,
Greg from Brookhaven Bike Co-op

Bob Dennis <rdennis60@...>
While this proposed legislation seems specific to bikers, perhaps we should support the addition of joggers/runners as well as pedestrians when there is no sidewalk. Here on Asharoken Avenue, this affects all three groups and perhaps would force the county to widen the road to accommodate a three-foot rule. This would help alleviate a very dangerous condition, especially on hills.
