Sad News - MPBC Has Lost An Icon

Dear Members,

It is with deep sadness that we share with you that our long time MPBC member, Jim Mango, has passed away.  Jim sadly lost his battle with cancer earlier today.  Jim has been an MPBC member since 1996 and it is very likely that many of you have been touched by Jim’s kindness at one time or another over the years.

One of our ride leaders, Leah Landro, had this to say about Jim “Jimmy was so well regarded by so many, and the club was a huge part of his life.  In addition to leading weekend rides, he organized the Tuesday / Thursday club rides from Borella Field until a couple of years ago.  Always insisting on safety first, Jimmy was a mentor to many, myself included.  He graciously imparted his riding etiquette and wisdom on those of us new to the sport.  He even taught me how to shift property.”

Leah has also offered to do something very special to honor Jim.  She is in the process of writing a tribute article for our Newsletter.  To augment this, she is asking all MPBC members who know Jim to share their favorite pictures with her directly.  Leah will do two things with these photos.  One will be to sprinkle some of them around the article in our next Newsletter.  The other is that she will create an online photo album which she will then share with Jim’s family.

Please help Leah out with this wonderful project by sending her your favorite photos at:  lblandro61@....

As a final point, we realize many of you may wish to send condolences, flowers, etc. to Jim’s family.  Jim and his wife Maria were living with another member of our club Tony Ciaccio.  MPBC members should direct all condolences to Tony either through email (flash3548@...) or you can mail it to his home at the following address:

Tony Ciaccio
3548 Bunker Ave
Wantagh 11793

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Maria and the rest of Jim’s family.  He will surely be missed.  May he rest in peace.
